World Coffee Events has partnered with TED2016 to design and execute a world-class coffee and tea program at this year’s event. The Vancouver Convention Centre will welcome TED2016, a gathering of some of the world’s brightest minds to innovate and stimulate conversations around technology, entertainment and design from February 15-19.

WCE has collaborated with the Barista Guilds of America (BGA) and Europe (BGE) in organising and staffing this year’s service. Over 40 qualified baristas will volunteer across the four and a half day service at TED2016.

WCE has partnered with La Marzocco, the TED coffee service Official Equipment sponsor, to support six full service bars, including a DIY bar equipped only with home espresso machines – for TEDsters to get the full hands-on experience.
Seven specialty roasters from around the globe will be showcased across the bars, as well as a coveted selection of loose-leaf teas from Canada’s own Camellia Sinesis.

As a complement to the coffee service, WCE will be providing an educational workshop to TEDsters that features on the official program. Facilitated by Peter Giuliano, Director of the Specialty Coffee Association of America Symposium, it promises an insight into the origin of the coffees they will be tasting across the service.

World Coffee Events (WCE) is an event management organization registered in Dublin, Ireland and founded by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe and the Specialty Coffee Association of America.

WCE is the premier producer of events for the coffee community worldwide. Our mission is to develop events that engage the specialty coffee community and promote coffee excellence. The current portfolio involves competition events such as the World Barista Championship, the World Cup Tasters Championship, the World Latte Art Championship, the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, and the World Brewers Cup, as well as show features such as the Espresso Bar and the Brew Bar.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics – from science to global issues – in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
